Isle of Wight County government website hacked by pro ISIS group(Photo: 13News Now)NORFOLK, Va. — The official website for the government of Isle of Wight County in Virginia was hacked Friday by a group claiming to support the Islamic State militant group.The website was littered with propaganda videos and messages supporting the Islamic State, which also goes by the acronym ISIL and ISIS.County officials became aware of what had happened sometime after 8:30 p.m. ET Friday, according Donald Robertson, the county's public information officer. He said that the county's offices were closed Friday and they're not sure when the hack actually took place.The website was restored shortly after 10 p.m.Robertson said that their website is hosted by a third-party service, and it's the second time in two weeks they've been hacked.The FBI said it is looking into the matter.The hackers identified themselves as "Team System DZ," an organization which one report described as a group of "anti-Israeli Arab teenagers," according to Zone-H, a website created in 2002 to track websites that have been defaced.Isle of Wight County has a population of about 35,000 and is located just west of Norfolk.The hacking comes a day after Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz visited Norfolk State University for a discussion on cybersecurity careers.
